چکیده
Abstract Introduction The use of a minilaparotomy for catheter implantation can bring important complications such as adhesions, intestinal lesions, incisional hernias and postoperative pain. In neurosurgery, the umbilical access, currently widely used by surgeons different specialties mainly its aesthetic results, is still restricted unfamiliarity access. Material Method During period between 2019 2020, total 12 patients who required ventricular bypass were selected, using circumbilical access insertion peritoneal followed up months to analyze possible complications. Description Technique surgeon responsible abdomen performs an incision bordering upper edge ring, avoiding mamelon, quickly finding linea alba under plane, which after dissection allows reaching peritoneum, without breaking rectus muscles. peritoneum then be opened visual control. Results All presented resolution hydrocephalus with good results Discussion result transumbilical procedure was stimulus development technique that proved easy, safe, cheap, aesthetic. Initially, ease cavity clear, in addition manipulation abdominis muscle, improves Conclusion ventriculoperitoneal shunt effective has better adult should part operative arsenal neurosurgeons.

Acute Epidural Hematoma after Ventriculoperitoneal Shunt Insertion: a Case Report
Background & Importance: Acute epidural hematoma is a very rare complication of ventriculoperitoneal shunt insertion. The insertion of a ventriculoperitoneal shunt can cause sudden decompression of the brain, subsequent to which epidural hematoma occurs due to CSF drainage. To our knowledge, there are only a few cases of acute epidural hematoma in the literature which required acute e...

متن کاملVentriculoperitoneal shunts to control hydrocephalus in adults
Hydrocephalus is a neurological disorder where there is an increased build up of cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) in the brain. One of the most prominent ways to treat this condition is the use of a ventriculoperitoneal (VP) shunt. Studies conducted are used to understand what the best treatment will be for certain patients with hydrocephalus. The overall goal of these studies is to determine how tech...
متن کاملVentriculoperitoneal shunt insertion for hydrocephalus in human immunodeficiency virus-infected adults: a systematic review and meta-analysis protocol
BACKGROUND Hydrocephalus is a recognised complication of human immunodeficiency virus (HIV)-related opportunistic infections. Symptomatic raised cerebrospinal fluid pressure can be treated with ventriculoperitoneal shunt insertion (VPS). In HIV-infected patients however, there is a concern that VPS might be associated with unacceptably high rates of mortality. We aim to systematically review an...
متن کاملInverted graft insertion technique for apicoaortic bypass.
The proximal anastomosis of the apicoarotic bypass is technically demanding. We describe our novel surgical technique to reinforce the proximal anastomosis of the apicoaortic bypass. After moving circular muscle of the left ventricle (LV) under ventricular fibrillation, an inverted tube graft is inserted into LV through the opening of the apex. Then, end-to-end anastomosis is made with horizont...
